Michael C. Peer, DDS
Dr. Peer has owned the practice since 1995 and has been providing high-quality dental care to the South Boston community for many decades. Originally from Halifax County, Dr. Peer graduated from Halifax County High School and then went on to complete his undergraduate studies in Ashland, Virginia. Dr. Peer graduated from dental school in 1987 and began his career working for the Augusta-Staunton Health Department shortly afterward. There he provided much-needed dental care to local schoolchildren.
Dr. Peer has a keen interest in continuing education and has completed many postgraduate advanced training programs, including on the following topics:
- Lasers
- Digital impression scanning
- Invisalign
- Sleep apnea
- Lumineers
- Advanced cardiac life support
- TMJ (temporomandibular joint)
- Cosmetic dentistry
- Dental implants
Dr. Peer and his wife, Aleacia, have one grown daughter, Ashley, and a rambunctious Boston terrier. In his spare time, he volunteers as a leader at his church and regularly referees high school soccer games both in Virginia and North Carolina. When not working, Dr. Peer enjoys photography, cycling, traveling, drone flying, and geocaching, as well as spending time with his family. Many people don’t realize that Dr. Peer has a talent for balloon animal artistry. He’s also very handy when it comes to landscaping.

Meet the Team
Dental Hygienist
Donna has been here since the beginning as she joined the practice back in 1995. She has been working as a dental hygienist for over 40 years. Outside of work, Donna enjoys spending time with her parents, grown children, and their families.
Dental Hygienist
Tara joined the practice in 2004. She originally trained as a dental assistant but moved into a dental hygienist role. Tara enjoys working with patients and getting to know the families who choose our practice as their dental home. Tara is married and enjoys traveling with their three kids and watching them play ball.
Dental Assistant
Teresa joined Dr. Peer back in 1995 when the practice started. She enjoys helping others in our community through her work. Teresa has been blessed with 14 grandchildren, who all live nearby. She enjoys spending time with her large family and her horses, as well as visiting the lake and the beach.
Dental Assistant
Kenzie works with us as a dental assistant. She is mom to her treasured 2-year-old “mini me.” When not working, she loves nothing more than watching Disney movies with her daughter, reading, and doing crafts. Kenzie is also a pretty good cook and loves trying out new recipes.
Business Assistant
Vicki has been with the practice for over 20 years and is one of our business assistants. Married to her high school sweetheart, Ricky, she is a mom of two boys and a grandmother of four. On weekends, Vicki enjoys spending time with her family as much as possible. She also loves to travel, cook, and decorate.
Business Assistant
April has been with the practice for around four years. She was born and raised in Halifax County and works as one of our business assistants. She is married and has two daughters. When not working, April loves spending time with her family and friends. She also likes to visit Oak Island in North Carolina whenever she gets the chance.
